Services

Services and pricing.

The first three are fixed-scope: you get a written proposal with the price and deliverables before anything starts. The fourth is an ongoing arrangement.

Process

How it works

  1. Intro callHalf an hour to hear what the project is, what the problem is and who's involved.
  2. ProposalA written proposal with scope, deliverables, price and dates.
  3. KickoffWe agree on access, who I'll be talking to and the schedule.
  4. DeliveryRegular check-ins. I share findings as I go instead of holding them for a final report.
  5. HandoverFinal documents and a walkthrough with your team.
Questions

Questions

Can you work through our existing vendor?

Yes. A lot of my government work has been as a subcontractor under a prime vendor, and I'm happy to do the same for you.

How would a ministry buy the fixed-scope work?

All of them come in under $75,000, which is the point where BC ministries have to post a service contract on BC Bid. Below that, a ministry only needs to ask for three quotes.

Do you still work hourly?

Yes, for architecture, tech lead and senior development roles. Fixed scope works when the outcome is clear. Hourly works better when I'm embedded in a team over a longer stretch.

Which platforms do you work with?

Mostly .NET and C# on Azure and Red Hat OpenShift, with Dynamics 365 for case management, PostgreSQL or SQL Server for data, and React, Angular or Vue on the front end.

Where are you based?

Vancouver, BC. I work with teams anywhere in Canada.

Got a project in mind?

New service, a launch coming up, or something that's gone sideways. Send me a few lines and we can talk for half an hour.
